Closeboard Fencing is similar to panel fencing but come with the following benefits:

  • One side of the fence will not show the posts giving an attractive finish.
  • Each feather board is individually nailed on which means that the fence can follow the ground levels more easily without steps.
  • Flexible fencing option when infilling on brick wall pillars or short runs between buildings.
  • Feather boards come in different sizes so virtually any height fence (within planning regulations) is a possibility.
  • Posts can either be wood or concrete.

Everything You Need to Know

Closeboard fencing comes with several options and features.

  • Posts can either be morticed (a cavity in the post where the rail sits to form a joint). Or they can have V shaped notches.
  • Fence capping can also be installed on top of the feather boards to provide weather protection.
  • Centre pegs can be installed in the centre of the bays to provide extra strength to the gravel boards (typically wooden).
  • Bays are normally 2.4 meters wide (as opposed to typical fence panels which are 1.8 meters). However, bays can be any length up to 2.4 meters as the rails are easily cut to size. This makes fencing around challenging terrains more simple than other options.
  • Trellis work can also be included as a decorative feature. Trellis fencing is legally considered the same as standard fencing, so no extra height can be gained using this option.

All wooden materials are pressure treated and come in a green or brown finish.

Under UK planning regulations, a solid fence panel can be no higher that 2 meters.

How deep are the fence posts?

Unless otherwise stated, all posts are concreted in to a depth of 18".
In soft ground, soil or turf is reinstated over the top of the concrete for a visually appealing finish.

Is the wood treated?

Unless otherwise stated all wood is treated in a brown of green finish.

Any other colour will need a spray or painted finish which can be provided at an extra cost.

How high can my fence be?

Generally speaking a fence cannot exceed 2 meters.

Will you take away our old fence?

Yes.
Included in every quote is the removal of the existing fence if applicable. Often there is garden waste where we need to cut back to access the fence line.

Are Quotes all inclusive?

All our quotes are inclusive with no hidden extras. Changes to the job are agreed in advance and if they incur an additional charge we will always inform you prior to going ahead.

Will my garden be left tidy?

Yes.
We will always work as tidily as possible, leaving your garden exactly how we found it. In wet weather, footprints etc. are inevitable. But shortly after your garden will recover.
If there are any specific requests, please be sure to speak with the installers on the day.
